Press release from the Des Moines County Government: April 25, 2022 This year, the Burlington Kiwanis Club is the presenting sponsor of Des Moines County Conservation's summer camps at Starr's Cave Nature Center. A generous donation from the Burlington Kiwanis Club will fund all camp-related travel expenses, food for day camps and overnight camps, and other supplies and materials needed for summer camp. Each summer Des Moines County Conservation hosts summer camps at Starr's Cave Nature Center. Our camps provide hands-on, nature-based science education to the children of Des Moines County. In a world where people are more and more disconnected from nature, our goal is to provide a safe space for kids to experience, learn about, and enjoy the natural world. By providing an opportunity to experience the outdoors, try new things, and just be kids, we hope to help the children in our community be more resilient to the challenges they face in everyday life. Kiwanis is a longtime supporter of Des Moines County Conservation's programs, and we're excited to partner with them again to continue improving the lives of children in our community.
