Council recognizes Senior Services and Activities Manager Steve Pieh The city council recognized Steve Pieh, the city's Senior Services and Activities Manager. Steve is retiring on May 2, 2022 after more than 38 years serving seniors in our community. Council awards contract for 2022 Mill and Overlay Project The city council awarded the contract for the 2022 Mill and Overlay Project to GMH Asphalt Corporation. This project will include pavement improvements as identified through the city's pavement management program, and the total budget is $1,520,000. Construction is expected to begin in May and should be completed before the end of the year. Council awards contract for the Burwell House and Outbuildings Repair Project The city council awarded the contract for the Burwell House and Outbuildings Exterior Repair project to Equity Builders & Construction Services, Inc. This project will include repair and replacement of sills, trim, posts, windows, side, and decking, among other improvements. The total budget is $270,000, with work expected to begin this season and be completed by the end of the year. Council advances the purchase of a fire engine The city council amended the Capital Improvement Program to purchase a fire engine this year, rather than in 2023 as was originally planned, and increase the budgeted amount to $815,000. Supply chain disruption and price increases are the reason for the advancing of the purchase. The original build costs were $750,100, but now current quotes are estimated at $799,722. Council approves the Park, Open Space and Trail System Plan The city council approved the final draft of the Parks, Open Space and Trail System (POST) Plan. The updated plan provides a 15 to 20 year road map for planning and implementing park improvements. Updates to the plan began in February 2021, in collaboration with the consultant, Damon Farber Landscape Architects, and a technical advisory committee. Council reviews concept plan for Mills Church at 13215 Minnetonka Drive The city council reviewed the concept plan for Mills Church at 13215 Minnetonka Drive, received comments from residents, and provided feedback to the applicants. The proposal is to convert the parking lot and open space to two six-unit townhome buildings at the southwest corner of the block along Baker and Inverness Roads.
