DETROIT — A 4-year-old boy was in critical condition after he was shot in the buttocks Wednesday morning while sleeping in his Detroit home, police said. The child was struck by gunfire at 3 a.m. in the 18400 block of Stout Street in the area of 7 Mile and Evergreen roads, police said. Police were unsure if the shooting was a drive-by, but said someone fired rounds from a high-powered assault rifle into the home, striking the child, police said. Police did not identify the shooter or a motive for the shooting, as they were continuing to investigate the incident. No further details were given by police. This is a developing story.
