GREAT NECK, NY — Police arrested a Great Neck man who they said broke into two area businesses. Officers were called late Wednesday to Water Mill Lane when an alarm blared at M&R Hotel Management. The officers saw a shattered glass window and found Miguel Condori, 37, hiding inside, police said. He had a deep cut on his left hand and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Investigators later determined Condori also broke into a bagel store on Great Neck Road, making off with an unknown amount of money early Tuesday. Condori faces two third-degree burglary charges. He was scheduled to appear Thursday in 1st District Court in Hempstead. Under new bail reform legislation, monetary bail conditions cannot be set for third-degree burglary charges. The reforms, which went into effect Jan. 1, end cash bail for most misdemeanor and nonviolent crimes. Opponents say it allows people who've been arrested to go out and commit more crimes, while supporters say the old system unjustly favored the wealthy and targeted the poor. Court records showed Condori was also arrested in February 2019 and March 2019. In the February 2019 case, he faces misdemeanor theft, attempted assault, and obstruction of governmental administration charges, as well as harassment, which was classified as a violation. In the March 2019 case, he faces misdemeanor drug and trespassing charges. Both cases are being held in Queens criminal court.
