Description
Sweet female Saint Bernard 1.4 year old in search of the right home. Needs to be the only dog as she has been exhibiting dominant and territorial behavior towards our 5 year old neutered tiny poodle for some time. Despite training and consistency, she is leash reactive and needs an experienced handler. She lacks manners and some social skills despite exposing her as a puppy. Must be walked on a gentle lead and continue her boundaries/training. She can be stubborn but eager to please. She is off limits trained (not allowed on the couch, baby’s room, human beds, nor kitchen!) Knows basic commands and is kennel trained. If left alone for errands, she does exhibit separation anxiety so kenneling is a positive and safe space for her. A chew stick on occasion makes it extra special. She enjoys car rides, beef knee bones and requires a semi special diet. She is sensitive to chicken and what we believe is processed grains so we usually do no grain salmon, whitefish, lamb, beef or turkey kibble with home cooked white rice. She eats between 4-6 cups a day and requires lots of water. Like many giant breed dogs, she is prone to bloat so we usually feed between 1-2 hours before or after a walk to prevent anything going wrong. She enjoys being a part of the family, is watchful and has been great with my small toddler. Though we think it’s best for her to go to a single home or with older children only to prevent any incidents. Bernie is affectionate, playful and active. Saint Bernards usually mature at 2 plus years old so again, an experienced handler or owner is a must. I am also experiencing serious health issues that is interfering with our quality time. We want to give our sweet girl a chance to find the right home. She really is a great companion. A giant kennel, a memory foam crib sized mattress for her bed, bowls, leashes, her giant toys and her food. She is currently up to date on vaccines and parasitic protection and can provide vet paperwork. A rehoming fee will be discussed to ensure she goes to a safe and loving home. She is officially SPAYED as of Friday April 22 2022 to protect her from unethical/irresponsible breeding.
