Man, 18, Charged With Murder In Fatal Stabbing: West Haven Police

WEST HAVEN, CT — An 18-year-old West Haven resident has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man on Halloween, according to police. Police responded to the area of Washington Avenue and Elm Street on Oct. 31 on the report of a serious assault. The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police. The victim died on Nov. 1 and his death was ruled a homicide, police said. The investigation led to the arrest of Terence Johnson, 18, of West Haven. He was charged with murder and was being held in lieu of a $1 million bond. "The West Haven Police Department would like to thank State's Attorney Margaret Kelley, Supervisory Assistant State's Attorney Howard Stein, and Inspector Patrick Dooling of Milford Superior Court for their assistance in this case," police said in a statement. Police recently responded back to the scene of the stabbing where they found a 9/11 mural had been vandalized, officials said. The mural was covered with spray paint in memory of the victim. "The West Haven Police Department mourns any loss of life to our community but we will not allow destruction of property in any form," police said. Three people were cited for vandalizing the mural and face future court dates, police said.
