WEST HAVEN, CT — Former longtime West Haven High School Athletic Director Jon Capone was arrested Tuesday night following a lengthy investigation into the "alleged illegal use of Board of Education funds," according to police.
The investigation included "numerous interviews, analyzing thousands of pages of receipts, bills and executing a search warrant," police said.
Police raided Capone's home on Benham Hill Road in March. He resigned as athletic director in February after initially being placed on administrative leave.
Capone turned himself in to police on Tuesday night after learning there was an active arrest warrant for him.
Capone, 65, was arrested on charges of first-degree larceny and illegal use of a credit card. He was held in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
