WEST HAVEN, CT — The "West Haven Rocks WHEAT" food drive collected more than 3,200 pounds of food and $2,500 in monetary donations on Saturday, Nov. 14. Organized by West Haven City Councilman Barry Lee Cohen and Yale West Campus, the socially distanced, three-hour event was held at Off Shore Restaurant, 852 Jones Hill Rd. "These unprecedented times have dramatically increased the number of Westies that are having to rely upon WHEAT (West Haven Emergency Assistance Taskforce) and other food pantries to make ends meet," Cohen said. "This outpouring of generosity will not only put food on our neighbors' tables but feed our community's spirits for a brighter future. Thank you to all who contributed. You Rock!"
