PLYMOUTH, MA — A white peacock had been ruffling feathers as residents spot it along its journeys through West Plymouth. It's not that the peacock has been up to any mischief in the town, it's that residents have expressed concern that it might be in danger. The Plymouth Animal Shelter said, however, that the peacock is "very happy" hanging out with his turkey friends, and is not being sought for capture at this time. The shelter said the peacock is a runaway from owners who have not been able to get him back, but that he is capable of living in the wild. There are other peacocks that live in the wild year round and have survived for years. "We do not have the ability to catch this fella," the Plymouth Animal Shelter said, "and, honestly, he's perfectly adapted to his surroundings. There's no reason for us to intervene." Apparently, peacocks get along with wild turkeys as well. So, if you see the peacock, keep your safe, social distance — and snap a photo from afar if you have a camera phone handy — but don't fret because he is doing just fine out on his own for now. "Rumor has it, his name is Gaylord," the Plymouth Animal Shelter said. "Just in case you wanna say hello."
