Learn how to assess springtime snow and avalanche concerns as well as deciding what equipment you need to complete your springtime objective April snow showers brings the PNW snowpack well above average which guarantees us a superb ski/splitboard mountaineering season. Join us and the Mountain Bureau to discuss "Classic" Ski Mountaineering objectives like Rainier, Baker, Mt Adams, and the North Cascades. We will discuss how to assess springtime snow and avalanche concerns without a published avalanche bulletin as well as deciding which equipment you need to complete your objectives. Guest speakers—Zack Wentz (Weston Ambassador and AMGA splitboard guide) and Mark Allen (Head of the Mountain Bureau and IFMGA certified guide) live full-time, year round in the Cascades and are active ski mountaineering guides, so they'll have updated information regarding some access considerations for many of the popular venues as well. They will also give insight on how to gain the skills necessary to achieve your spring ski mountaineering goals.
