The Town of Hempstead, Audubon NY, and AMSEAS are partnering to host Share the Shore Day at Lido Beach Town Park on Saturday, June 4, 2022. The Town of Hempstead, Audubon New York, and Atlantic Marine Conservation Society (AMSEAS) are partnering to host a free community event, Share the Shore Day, at Lido Beach Town Park on Saturday, June 4, 2022. Attendees can sign-up for a variety of exciting, family friendly activities. When registering, please ensure that you reserve a ticket for each member of your family or group, as space is limited for certain activities. General Admission tickets are available and include the Beach Cleanup, Audubon NY Kids Center, Education Hub, and AMSEAS First Responder Training presentation. The Bird Walks and Safe Shorebird Photography Tour require a ticket for each individual, as space is limited. Schedule of the day: 10:00am - 11:00am Beach Cleanup with AMSEAS 11:00am - 12:00pm Bird Walk with Audubon New York 11:00am - 12:00pm Audubon NY Kids Center 12:00pm - 1:00pm Safe Shorebird Photography Tour with A Couple Without Borders 12:30pm - 1:30pm Audubon NY Kids Center 1:00pm - 2:00pm Bird Walk with Audubon New York 1:00pm - 2:00pm AMSEAS First Responder Training Presentation The Audubon NY Kids Center will be hosting brief shorebird lessons by the Audubon NY education staff and shorebird sign making. The AMSEAS First Responder Training presentation will walk participants through the proper steps to take if you come across a stranded marine mammal or sea turtle on the beach. In addition to these activities, there will be an Education Hub open from 10:00am - 2:00pm for attendees to learn about the different partnering organizations and how they can be involved. Beach clean-up supplies will be provided, but it is recommended to bring your own gloves. Binoculars will be provided, if needed, for the Bird Walk activities. Registration is required so that we may contact you if we need to cancel the event due to weather. Parking fees will be waived for all registered participants.
