"Hooray for Heroes!" – A Virtual CelebrationHonoring Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Plymouth's Healthcare HeroesAugust 19, 6 p.m. ET| Facebook Live and PACTV Plymouth, MA — On Wednesday, August 19, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth (BID Plymouth) will present "Hooray for Heroes!," a virtual celebration to honor the incredible work of BID Plymouth doctors, nurses and staff as the South Shore battled the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Emceed by legendary Boston comedian Tony V, the one-hour Facebook Live/PACTV event will include musical guests, Aldous Collins, 3RD Left, Abby Vail, Sparrow Blue and members of the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra, and will shine the spotlight on the stories of BID Plymouth's front-line caregivers and the patients they served during the height of the surge. The event will be hosted on Facebook Live and PACTV and will begin at 6 p.m., ET. "Our response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which included re-deploying staff, re-configuring spaces to expand ICU bed capacity, and acquiring extremely limited PPE supplies in order to care for numerous critically ill patients, required extraordinary teamwork and intense commitment on the part of our staff," said Kevin Coughlin, President, BID Plymouth. "Their dedication drove our ability to meet the needs of our community during the surge. It is now our collective responsibility, as a hospital and as a community, to ensure we are fully prepared for the road ahead. Expanding our Emergency Department's capacity to manage what comes next is critical for that effort." Proceeds will support BID Plymouth in responding to the COVID-19 challenges that lie ahead, including development of the Healthcare Heroes Emergency Department East. It is free to register. Tax-deductible donations can be made at any time by texting HOORAY4HEROES to 44-321. Attendees are encouraged to join the event in a socially distant setting and to post video tributes to our heroes throughout the broadcast and tagging BID Plymouth on Facebook.
