Plymouth School Committee Votes To Begin Year With Hybrid Model

PLYMOUTH, MA — Plymouth Public Schools students will participate in a hybrid learning model to start the school year after the Plymouth School Committee voted to accept that priority at Monday night's school committee meeting. In the event of an emergency, including a spike in positive cases of the coronavirus, Plymouth Public Schools will maintain plans for a fully remote learning schedule. "There was no easy decision," School officials said in a statement. "However, with the partnership with our teachers, students and families, our entire administration is devoted to providing a safe learning environment." Under the plan, the school year will begin on Sept. 16 with students going to schools for in-classroom learning two days a week. All students will attend school remotely on Monday, with a Group A attending in-classroom learning on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and a Group B attending in-classroom learning on Wednesdays and Fridays. Plymouth Schools said more information regarding transportation, safety protocols and FAQs will be provided in the upcoming days. There will also be workshops and forums for parents and guardians "to help navigate this challenging time." Family members will be assigned to the same group to keep them in school on the same days. All staff is to report to schools five days a week with remote learning to be conducted from the schools.
