Traffic Stop Leads To Kingston Man Being Arrested On Drug Charges

PLYMOUTH, MA — A 50-year-old Kingston man was arrested Tuesday and charged with drug trafficking charges after Massachusetts State Police discovered 138 grams of cocaine in his car after the man was pulled for an expired inspection decal, police said. Charles Thompson was arrested after he was pulled over in Plymouth for the expired decal. Troopers soon discovered that Thompson's driver's license was suspended before troopers determined they had probable cause to search the vehicle, police said in a news release. Troopers quickly discovered a baggie filled with a substance they believed to be cocaine, police said. Thompson was placed under arrest before another trooper arrived with a K-9 unit. A drug-sniffing dog helped to discover two more large bags of a substance believed to be cocaine, which took the total weight found in the vehicle to be 138 grams, police said. Thompson was taken into custody and held without bail. He is expected to appear in Plymouth District Court on charges including trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and operating a vehicle with an expired inspection decal.
