CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI — Chippewa Falls police announced that they arrested a juvenile on Tuesday in connection with Lily Peters' death after the 10-year-old's body was found in a wooded area near a walking trail in the western Wisconsin city. Police arrested one unnamed juvenile and there's no danger to the public, Chippewa Falls Police Chief Matthew Kelm said in a press conference Tuesday evening. The juvenile and Peters knew each other, he added. Peters' body was found in a wooded area near a walking trail in the Duncan Hills creek on Monday after a 13-hour search. Officers searched the inside of a house at 422 N. Grove Street and collected evidence on Tuesday, Kelm said. Community members gave over 200 tips to the police department, the chief added. The girl didn't return after a trip to her aunt's house around 9 p.m. on Sunday night, her father told police. Peters' body was found around 9:15 a.m., the police chief said. A bicycle that belonged to Peters was in the woods near her aunt's house, and police searched the wooded area and went door to door.
