MBTA Reducing Trains Along Framingham-Worcester Beginning In May

WESTBOROUGH, MA — The MBTA will reduce the number of trains running along the Framingham-Worcester commuter in May due to upcoming construction projects. The temporary change will last until October and affect trains running during midday hours and on the weekend. Seven inbound midday train trips will have hours changed, and three trains will be eliminated starting May 2. Sixteen outbound trains will have their times adjusted, and three will be temporarily eliminated, according to Keolis, the MBTA's commuter rail manager. During weekends, all outbound trains times will shift by five minutes, but there will be no changes to inbound weekend trains. "Weekday peak service in the morning and the evening will not be impacted by construction," Keolis said in a bulletin. Between May and October, the MBTA will be working on platform construction projects at Worcester's Union Station, and at Natick Center. New rail ties will also be installed along the stretch of track between Framingham and Worcester. You can view the full schedule changes beginning May 2 on the MBTA website.
