KING COUNTY, WA — Washington State Patrol detectives are seeking out witnesses to help solve another King County freeway shooting after troopers said a man was shot at on the shoulder of State Route 167, near Auburn. According to a news release Monday, witnesses called 911 around 3:45 p.m. Sunday to report a man threatening another driver with a gun near SR 167's southbound Ellingson exit. Investigators said a man driving a black or gray sedan on the right shoulder struck a barrier, then hit a trailer being towed by a Dodge pickup. The pickup driver told troopers he continued southbound, not realizing his trailer was hit, before the sedan drove alongside him and the driver threatened him with a gun, demanding that he pull over. After pulling over, the victim said the driver of the sedan threatened him and forced him to unhitch the trailer at gunpoint, then fired a shot in his direction, which went over his head. Troopers so not have a detailed description of the suspect or his vehicle and ask anyone who witnessed the incident to reach out to detectives via e-mail. Sunday's incident marks the 23rd shooting investigation on King County freeways this year, which WSP said numbered just 12 during all of 2021.
