Womansong Concert
Womansong, Asheville's longest-running women's community chorus, invites you to its spring concert, "Music in the Air". The concert will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Asheville, One Edwin Place, Asheville, NC 28801, on Friday May 20 at 7:30 pm and Saturday May 21 at 3 pm. The concert features uplifting music to share our gratitude, grief, healing and joy after two-plus years with no performances. It features new songs by our own Lytingale and Martha Burrows along with favorites by Holly Near and inspiring pieces written during the pandemic. From choral anthems to contemporary pop tunes, there's something for everyone--music to make you laugh, cry, and dance. We'll even have some "sign-alongs" (No, that's not a typo!) Co-directors Martha Burrows and Sarah Rubin are thrilled that two former Womansong directors, Althea Gonzalez and Debbie Nordeen, will join them as guest conductors.
Womansong celebrates the unity, diversity and empowerment of women through musical expression, as we sing for Joy, social justice, and community. Our concerts help fund the operation of our nonprofit organization including the choir's New Start Program which provides scholarships and emergency funds to local women in need.
Womansong concerts are accessible to the hearing impaired through music sign language interpretation by Shiner Antiorio.
Masks are required inside the building. Must show proof of vaccinations with a valid Vaccination card
OR recent negative PCR test administered within 72 hrs.
