Description
My philosophy is "Everything I ever needed to know about business I learned on the sports field." From Behind The Scoreboard, I feature the sports stories that tell us much more than simply who won or lost. These personal and inspiring experiences of grade school, high school, college, other amateur and even pro athletes allow all of us to reflect a little more on what is important in life. ~ James C. From Basketball To The Hollywood Spotlight
His friends called him “Touch,” because during high school and college in California he always wanted to touch the ball on the basketball court. He was a pretty good player, good enough to play for John Wooden’s UCLA teams.
Krekor Ohanian, Jr., had planned to become an attorney and follow in his father’s footsteps. An Armenian immigrant, his father helped fellow Armenians with various legal matters. Krekor’s plans took a detour when, after one of the college games, he was introduced to William A. Wellman. The film director liked the young man’s voice and his expressive face as he played the game. He encouraged Krekor to consider an acting career.
Krekor never became an attorney. Instead, we know him from his many film and television appearances. His most popular appearance was as the star of Mannix under the stage name Mike Connors.
