Description
Press release from Johnson City Public Library:
April 21, 2022
Have you read a book you want to talk about with fellow bibliophiles? Do you love chatting with friends over a pint? Then your Library's new monthly discussion group, Bring Your Own Book, is the place for you!
Bring Your Own Book is a partnership between your Library and Johnson City Brewing Company (JCBC). It meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at JCBC's new Boones Creek location (2362 Boones Creek Road, Johnson City).
The first Bring Your Own Book is on Thursday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. Since April is National Poetry Month, this month's Bring Your Own Book is Shakespeare-themed. All local poets, thespians, and anyone who loves the written word (and a good pint!) are invited to come talk about their favorite Shakespeare plays and poems.
JCPL Adult Services Manager Lisa Krekelberg hopes people will enjoy talking with fellow book lovers. "I know I often get to the end of a good book and can't wait to share it with others or find someone else who's read it," she says. She also hopes people walk away with new reading suggestions.
Some months Bring Your Own Book will have a theme or literary focus, while some will be more open-ended. May's will be open-ended—meaning, bring any book you want to talk about—and will include book-themed trivia.
