BNAV Certification event for any current member of MABAS 69 Washington County EMA presents their first BNAV class scheduled for May 21st 2022 from 0800-1600! The Basic Land Navigation course is one of the basic training courses for personnel who have responsibilities to respond to a SAR incident as a field searcher. This course provides a broad overview of land navigation, use of compass (different types), pacing and distance determination and very basic topographic map information. This course is intended for all emergency responders, including police, fire, emergency management, and parks & recreation personnel, who might be involved in a search incident during the normal course of their duties. Prior SAR training or experience is not required to successfully complete this course, however it will be required for all participants to have taken ICS-100 and ICS-700 as a prerequisite. This course also will be required prior to participants attending Ground Search and Rescue. Please note, that this class is required to recertify as a member of the current Washington County SAR group. This class is open to any interested persons who are currently affiliated with a Fire Dept. within MABAS region 69. There are currently 38 open spots. This event will be hosted by Nashville Fire Dept. On behalf of the late Vic Shubert, this class is being offered to participants at no cost.
