Frederick Community College is hosting ASL (American Sign Language) Classes at Rockwell Brewery every Tuesday from May 17th-June 14th. Rockwell Brewery is thrilled to partner with Frederick Community College and host ASL (American Sign Language) classes this spring in our beer garden!This course is called Introduction to ASL Basics and will be facilitated by a trained Frederick Community College instructor in order for students to achieve comprehensive and expressive skills necessary to successfully engage in basic daily conversations in ASL, and develop deeper understanding of the deaf culture.There will be 5 classes in total and students will receive a Certificate of Completion of Introduction to ASL Basics from Frederick Community College.Course Title: Introduction to ASL BasicsTotal Course Time: Five (5) 75 minute sessionsCourse Description: Achieve comprehensive and expressive skills necessary to successfully engage in basic daily conversations in ASL, and develop deeper understanding of the deaf culture.Course Outcomes:1. Introduce basic conversational signs used in everyday life. Understand some of the ASL grammatical features.2. Recollect, produce, and comprehend signs through activities with other classmates.3. Identify and establish a deeper appreciation of the cultural norms found within the deaf communities by analyzing and comparing the deaf culture to their own.4. Be able to effectively engage in conversations using ASL with deaf individuals. Classes will be held every Tuesday at 6:00 PM starting on May 17th-June 14th!**Ticket cost includes 5 classes and 5 beers (1 beer per class).**You will be given a token/ticket to claim your beer in the taproom before each class.There are only 20 spots available. Once all the spots are filled, you will receive an e-mail from the College or Brewery with more details before the first class.If you have any questions about the class please contact [email protected]: There are no refunds. If you miss a class, you will not be refunded and cannot use a beer credit for another class. In case of bad weather, the College and Brewery decide if the class will be rescheduled to another Tuesday from 6:00-7:15 PM. The classes will be held in the beer garden under the covered portico.
