PEABODY, MA —A Peabody Little League umpire has been tapped to call games this summer at the Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport, PA. Michael Orlando Jr. was one of 90 umpires from around the world chosen to officiate in the seven championship tournaments the group sponsors. "Appointment as a member of the umpiring crew for a World Series is the highest honor that Little League can bestow on a volunteer umpire," Little League Baseball said in a news release. "An individual can be selected for a World Series assignment once every four years, but being chosen to work the Little League Baseball World Series is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity." Orlando is one of 16 umpires chosen to call games in the group's marquee event, the Little League Baseball World Series. The games are typically broadcast on ESPN and feature teams from around the world. In 2018, Orlando called games in the Massachusetts Little League's Final Four. It was the fourth time he was selected for the honor.
