THE 10,000 HOURS OPEN(ish) MIC (w/emcee’s DARKLES and L.I.P), has its debut next Wednesday, May 24th at Rootstock Wine Bar in Los Gatos 10,000 HOURS is named for the idea that to get really good at something, no matter what that might be, you have to put at least 10,000 hours of work into the endeavor. Our vision is to provide a platform for those working in the performing arts. Here they can get their hours in the form of precious, hard to come by stage time in a relaxed, supportive and low pressure environment. If the performer is comfortable with it, we may sometimes engage them with some Q&A afterwards. The goal is to be as helpful and encouraging as possible while providing valuable feedback to the artist. OPEN(ish) MIC refers to the possibility that at times a special guest or feature may drop in for a set and will be given preferential treatment as far as performance set times are concerned. Any professional local and/or touring musicians or comedians looking for an auxiliary venue or wising to drop in for a set are encouraged to get in touch. Such will be given preferential time slots and may be compensated for their time to the best of our ability. 10,000 HOURS is open to any and all kinds of performers of any age including, but not limited to, Musicians, Comedians, Poets & Storytellers. It’s safe to say that most anything is allowed on our stage but we politely ask that Van Morrison’s ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ is never be performed here, we thank you for your understanding! Another goal of ours is to take video of each show and post clips, with the performer’s permission, on our YouTube channel, making the content available for their own promotional or marketing needs. Advance sign-ups are appreciated (but not required) and will be given preferential treatment. Simply send us a simple video of what it is you would like to share. Sign ups at the venue are from 5:30 to 6:30, show start’s at 6:30 and ends at 9:00. Show’s on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month. There is no charge however tips/bribes are accepted. All ages are welcome!
