Description

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — More than 30 people were displaced and two cats rescued when a fire broke out at a Laurel apartment building Saturday shortly before 4 p.m. The Howard County Fire Department was dispatched to the three-story structure located in the 9700 block of Tiger Lily Path, which was consumed with flames. It took crews approximately an hour to put out the fire, which ultimately damaged 12 apartments within the building. A firewall prevented the fire from spreading to other buildings, the department noted. Two cats were treated for smoke inhalation but appear to be fine. No one else was injured in the fire. Displaced residents are being assisted by the apartment building's management company and the American Red Cross. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
