La Grange School Gets Threat Of Youth With Weapon: Cops

LA GRANGE, IL – La Grange's Gurrie Middle School on Monday received a phone threat about a youth walking toward the school with a weapon, police said. School staff, which received the call about 3:50 p.m., informed police dispatchers and entered into a lockdown as a precaution, according to a police news release. La Grange and Countryside police searched the area, but were unable to identify a credible threat or find anyone matching the description of the youth, police said. After an initial lockdown, Gurrie, Spring Avenue Elementary School and St. Cletus Catholic School were evacuated, police said. Spring Avenue Elementary is at the same address as Gurrie, while St. Cletus is a couple of blocks away. Detectives will conduct a follow-up investigation into the incident, police said.
