I Never Want To Play Shows

Looking to start a band. But only to play music communally and to make records(Like a modern day Donald Fagan or later era Andy Partridge.). I am very into the more jangly sound of rock and I play rhythm with occasional leads. I’ve been in garage rock bands before and I wouldn’t mind exploring that sound, but lately I’ve wanted to make things that fall into either the power pop or jangle pop genre( Clean guitars too! A little distortion is fine, but I don’t want to be another Dream Pop band.). My playing influences include The Clean, The Chills, The Bats(Ok, I’m going to stop naming Flying Nun bands now, I promise), Jonathan Richman(For his tenderness and sincerity), Galaxie 500,Polaris, Bill Callahan, and The Desperate Bicycles. I listen to a vast variety of stuff though and on any given day I might be listening to anything from an obscure ECM release to the latest release by The Weekend(Seriously, the new Weekend record is incredible.). I cannot stress this enough. I have no interest in playing shows. Shows are full of expectations and disappointments. Also, I do not want to be in a band just to be in a band. If we get along, then full speed ahead. Music is only fun when you play with friends! Just putting this out there into the universe, Chris
