WATERFORD, CT — A rash of very recent car break-ins, and a brazen daytime smash-in of a locked car in Stengers Field Park, has the Waterford Police Department pleading with folks to lock their car doors, but also to store valuables out-of-sight. "We have posted quite a bit about car break-ins occurring overnight as unlocked cars are gone through and stolen," police said in a Facebook post. "Unfortunately, officers are currently investigating a day time car break that happened at Stengers Field Park in the last 30 minutes where a window was broken to steal the valuables inside," police posted just after noon. "Please lock your cars, take the keys with you and do not leave valuables inside that people can see," they asked.
