Peabody, Salem Police To Wear Gold Ribbons On Badges In September

PEABODY, MA — Peabody and Salem police officers will have a gold ribbon near and dear to their hearts this month as they don a gold ribbon on their badges in support of Pediatric Cancer Awareness month and Ella's Army of Peabody. "No causes are more dear to the members of the Peabody Police Department than those that support children and families that are coping with pediatric cancer," Peabody police said. The gold ribbon is the internationally recognized symbol for childhood cancer. The ribbons were donated by Ella's Army. Ella's Army is also selling shirts this month to raise money in honor of Ella O'Donnell — the Peabody girl who died at age 10 in 2016 after battling a brain tumor for 11 months. Adult and kids sizes are available and shirts can either be shipped or picked up at the O'Donnell's house. Shirts can be ordered until Monday and will be available the week of Sept. 14.
