Description

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Nassau County's NICE Bus will resume its regular service schedule on Sunday, June 7. It had cut back on service to some areas in April due to decreased ridership. The lockdown caused by the coronavirus caused a steep decrease in NICE Bus ridership, so the transit utility cut some service to compensate. As the area begins to reopen and more people start to travel, the bus service plans to resume its normal schedule. The regular schedule will be available on the NICE Bus website at www.NICEBus.com as of June 7, along with real-time arrival information on the NICE GoMobile app. Despite the resumption of regular service, social distancing and safety guidelines will still be in place. Every passenger two years old and older will have to wear face masks when riding the bus. In addition, passengers will board using rear doors of the buses, and are encouraged to keep as much space between themselves as possible. If passengers see a bus is crowded, they are encouraged to wait for the next bus to maintain social distancing. To help keep things clean, NICE Bus is disinfecting all high-touch surfaces every 12 hours on all of its buses. There are also touchless hand sanitizer dispenser at the Rosa Parks-Hempstead Transit Center that riders can use.
