HEMPSTEAD, NY — A woman was killed after she was hit by an SUV while crossing a street in Hempstead Saturday night. According to police, 64-year-old Rosie Cubies was crossing Barr Avenue at Van Cott Avenue at 8:55 p.m. when she was hit by the driver of a 2017 Honda Pilot. The driver, a 52-year-old man, remained at the scene. Police conducted a safety check of the car and released it to the driver. Cubies suffered multiple injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
