Duo Used Stolen Credit Cards To Make Purchases: Nassau Police

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — A coordinated effort between the Garden City, Old Westbury and Nassau County police departments led to the arrest of two Queens men on Wednesday for multiple crimes around the county. According to police, around noon on Wednesday, Kevin Alvarado, 23, of 32nd Avenue, Queens, and Jonathan Millan, 19, of 96th Street, Jackson Heights, were in the parking lot of the Old Westbury Golf and Country Club, at 270 Wheatley Ave., and broke into a car. Police say they stole a driver's license, keys and multiple credit cards. Using the stolen credit cards, police say the two made about $1,200 in purchases. Police say the investigation led them to the parking lot of a 7-Eleven on Woodbury Road in Hicksville at 1:30 p.m., where the two were arrested without incident. Police say that the investigation determined the two were responsible for other crimes in the county. On July 21, police say the two broke into a car parked at 315 Stewart Ave. in Garden City and stole credit cards, cash and an Apple Watch. The proceeds were worth $1,000. On Sept. 12, police say the two broke into a car parked at the Glen Oaks Club, at 174 Post Road in Old Westbury, and stole credit cards, personal papers and a watch. Police say the two used teh cards to make purchased. The proceeds from the theft and the purchases were worth about $17,000. Alvarado and Millan are each charged with seven counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, one count of third-degree grand larceny, four counts of second-degree identity theft, four counts of criminal possession of stolen property and four counts of petty larceny. They were both arraigned on Wednesday and released with a temporary order of protection issued.
