GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending Dec. 8. Dec. 2 Two vehicles were reported stolen from the driveway of an Adams Street home. Upon activation of both vehicles' tracking systems, Officers traced and recovered them in Brooklyn. The investigation is ongoing.Items were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in a Barnes Lane driveway. Dec. 3 A wallet was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on 4th Street.Investigation of a speeding car on Clinton Road resulted in the arrest of a 57-year-old driver for possession of a forged out-of-state registration, suspended license, unregistered vehicle, uninsured vehicle and excessive speed. Dec. 4 Firefighters assisted officers with a hazardous condition due to an auto accident at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Stewart Avenue. Fuel from one of the vehicles, a truck, leaked onto the roadway. A traffic investigation on Franklin Avenue resulted in the arrest of a 37-year-old driver for possession of a forged out-of-state registration, uninspected vehicle, unregistered vehicle and uninsured vehicle.Officers responded to the Residence Inn to investigate a report of a man preventing his ex-girlfriend from calling the police after he harassed and threatened to harm her and her child. Upon investigation, detectives located the 32-year-old man and arrested him for criminal mischief, harassment and endangering the welfare of a child.During a domestic incident investigation, officers arrested a 52-year-old man for felony possession of an illegal large capacity rifle ammo feeding device.Garden City detectives tracked a vehicle reported stolen from a St. James Street South driveway to a Newark, New Jersey commercial garage where it was recovered. The investigation is ongoing.A package was reported stolen from the porch of a Mulberry Street residence.Firefighters investigated a fire alarm inside a Franklin Avenue business and determined the cause to be burnt food. Dec. 5 Officers responded to Clinch Avenue and New Hyde Park Road where a vehicle overturned after striking a light pole and street signs. Firefighters responded and removed the driver from the vehicle. Upon investigation, the 32-year-old driver was arrested for DWI. NYU transported the subject to a local hospital for injuries sustained from the accident.The police department investigated a two-vehicle accident on Clinton Road where one of the drivers refused to exchange information with the other and left the scene. Dec. 6 The police department investigated the theft of a resident's identity to file for unauthorized unemployment benefits. Dec. 7 A vehicle left the scene after striking and damaging a portion of the Community Park fence.Surveillance cameras show a woman removing two packages from the porch of a Roosevelt Street residence.A light pole was found leaning over the roadway causing a hazardous condition. Work crews responded to the scene and corrected the condition. Dec. 8 A 19-year-old driver was stopped for speeding on Clinton Road. Upon investigation, he was arrested for possession of a forged registration, suspended license, excessive speed, unregistered vehicle, switched plate, and uninsured vehicle.Packages were reported stolen from the front porch of a Nassau Boulevard residence.
