Description
Here is the approach: We treat cover songs as if we have a song writing partner who comes to us for performance and arrangement. We respect the writer’s song, but how it is performed is up to us. It may stay relatively true to the “demo” provided by the writer or go far a field. Every song ever written is the writer’s catalogue.
A little about me:
-Singer/guitar player both electric and acoustic with very rhythmic style betraying my roots as a drummer
-recently moved back to Philly to pursue music; I just left a career in education in January
-prior to COVID, I had been playing anywhere from 20 to 50 gigs a year for the last 8 or 10 years. These included solo, duo and full band shows, both acoustic and electric. I also was sitting in occasionally with other musicians on guitar and drums.
-my current song selection is primarily from the middle to end of the 20th Century. Some before that, some after. Open to trying pretty much any song.
You…in the ideal world!
-have enough interest to read this far
-are reasonably proficient on your instrument and want to continue to get better
-are willing to sing
-find joy in playing and performing music with others
-play cello (Remember, I said ideal world! All instruments welcomed!)

These boots: (These Boots Were Made for Walking.) about a year ago with my friend, who had never recorded before, singing. Minimal post-production with percussion overdub. Electric, in my old practice space.
Brian NMH: (Two Headed Boy ) same time period; just me; minimal post-production with no overdubs. Electric, in my old practice space.
Lonely Boy and You Can’t Always Get what You Want: last week in my apartment. No post production or overdubs. Acoustic
I look forward to hearing from anyone who has an interest in pursuing this idea further.
Cheers-
Brian
