An interactive event featuring GMRI Research Scientist, Dr. Graham Serwood, and Maine artist, Nate Garrett.
GMRI Research Scientist, Dr. Graham Sherwood, along with local Maine artist, Nate Garrett, will host an interactive experience on the practice of documenting marine species over time. Nate will share the history of Gyotaku, the Japanese practice of recording fish dating to the mid-1800s, and how prints are made, while Graham will share how scientists are painting their own picture of marine life in the ocean using environmental DNA (eDNA). Participants will create their own Gyotaku print at this family-friendly event.
