Hello, my name is Nelson Novak and I have been playing guitar for the past 15 years. I am offering free lessons in guitar for children up to the age of 15 with no prior experience. These lessons are being offered via our 501(c)(3) non-for-profit organization, Terrapin Station Sober Living's, music program. I can teach up to intermediate Jazz but would prefer to start with beginners. The classes are free as I have no prior experience as a teacher and would like to see how my methods work by comparison to traditional guitar teachers, whilst also helping our small music program grow. I have a lot of musical knowledge and can guide your child in the best direction possible based on their intentions with their desire to create music. This is designed to be a "wrap around" musical service. I have a guitar that the student can use however it would be best for them to start with a nylon string acoustic. It would be helpful if your house had a piano, or keyboard for music theory purposes. I would be willing to allow the lessons to take place at our house with a parent present, but with a puppy, would prefer to come to you. I can teach other, newer instruments and styles of music making i.e electronic/ Digital Audio Workstation, modular synthesis, standalone synthesizers, sound design, song writing...etc...etc. In all reality, many of these, or a combination of these along with guitar, will be more valuable than simply learning guitar this point in time. The decision of what is played and learned however, is up to the student. The lessons will be free until a good level of progress is shown by the student. 2 positions are currently available.
