NORWOOD, MA — Video students at Norwood High school took home one win and two honorable mentions at the Student Emmy Awards. The Boston/New England Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presents these awards annually and are a part of the same professional organization that runs the Emmys. The winners and honorable mentions from Norwood High School included: Winner: What's GOOD Outside The WOOD (Arts and Entertainment/ Cultural Affairs) Jake McCarthy, Reporter/photographer/editorBrendan Bartucca, Reporter/videographer/editorNick Spadorcia, CinematographerHonorable Mentions: Meet Atlas (Single Camera Video Essay) Renee Babineau, VideographerDelaney Reardon, Videographer/EditorCelebrating Life (Serious News) Brianna LeBlanc, Reporter/EditorJenny Puzey, Reporter/editorAllison Gruber, Assistant EditorThe awards were announced online on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 with a special message from Chapter president Danielle Mannion and Boston 25 News anchor Daniel Miller. Norwood High principal Hugh T. Galligan praised the students for their work, saying. "Norwood High School is extremely proud of the hard work and dedication that our students in the tv production and broadcast journalism programs put in on a daily basis. The recognition of several of our students in multiple categories of the "Nemmys" serves as public recognition of their consistent efforts to bring quality news and journalism to our students and community. We are especially proud of how the students apply skills learned in the classroom and create products for public consumption. We couldn't be more proud of our honorable mentions and look forward to their continued success in the future." The student production awards are typically presented during the annual "Lights, Camera, Action: Television and Film Conference" at Millis High School, but due to the new coronavirus outbreak, the conference and awards ceremony were canceled this year.
