Description

WALLINGFORD, CT – Wallingford police charged a Waterbury man earlier this week after a routine traffic stop led to a drug arrest. On Wednesday just after 10 p.m., Wallingford police officers saw a black Mercedes with dark tinted windows traveling south on Old Colony Road fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with Main Street. Officers pulled the car over and during their interaction with the driver smelled marijuana inside the car. After searching the car, they found approximately one pound of marijuana. Steven Echevarria, 35 of Waterbury, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, failure to obey a stop sign and illegally tinted windows. He was held on $25,000 bond and was remanded to custody by his parole officer.
