Add your brushstrokes to District 4's Community Mural! Enjoy food, music, vendors and additional art activities. Free to All Ages!
Celebrate Broadway this Memorial Day weekend with an amazing opportunity to make your mark on Sacramento at District 4's Community Mural! In addition to the Paint by Number Mural, enjoy the Broadway Block Party held on 5th Street. With music, vendors, and food trucks, this free event offers art lessons by Matthew Goodwin Art Scholarship, a chance to connect with community groups and creative experiences for all ages!
The mural will be led by celebrated muralist Ryan Rhodes, with support from Stefhani Godinez, Brooke Correa, and Gerardo Zambrano. For 6 months, the team of artists have held art workshops with young people at Mercy Housing, students and teachers at Health Professions High School, staff at ABC 10 and other area non-profits. From those workshops emerged central themes, important figures and a legacy passed from one generation to the next. The public is invited to come paint this design!
Community Murals Sacramento is a new program sponsored by the The Sacramento Office of Arts + Culture. This event is sponsored by ABC 10 and the City of Sacramento's Office + Arts and Culture.
A community mural project allows an artist to collaborate with a community to achieve a result neither the artist nor the community could have achieved on their own.
