The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals, regardless of previous shooting experience. Course is scheduled for TWO days: Saturday and Sunday: 8 - 12 Description Increase your comfort, knowledge & proficiency with handguns! The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals, regardless of previous shooting experience. This course is instructor-led, and takes place in classroom and on a shooting range. You will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end. This course is taught in (2) 4 hour blocks, Saturday & Sunday 8am-Noon. Course topics include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety. Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive the NRA Guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor. This course is instructed in a welcoming environment for all skill levels. Equipment required: Eye and Ear Protection Firearm (You may rent one if needed - Rentals are $30.00) 100 Rounds of suitable ammunition for your firearm FAQs Do I need a FOID card for this event? No, a FOID is not required to attend the course. I don't have any experience! No problem! That's what we're here for! Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? 18+ is ideal for this course What's the refund policy? We do not offer refunds, but we do allow rollovers. Meaning if there is a need to not attend the course, you may roll your slot over to the next available one. There is a $50.00 one time fee associated per ticket purchased. What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? We are co-located with The Tac Shack Indoor Shooting Range on North University Street in Peoria. Our parking lot is more than adequate and is ADA approved.
