Description
NORWOOD, MA — A Norwood teen is safe with his family thanks to Norwood firefighters who rescued him from a house fire on Tuesday. The teen had no injuries and didn't need to go to the hospital — all three floors of the home were engulfed in flames.
The fire broke out just before 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at a home on Nahatan Street. Norwood Police Officer Kevin McDonough spotted the fire on the front porch of the home and called it into the fire department.
Fire crews worked in 90 degree heat and quickly hooked up hoses to nearby hydrants to control the flames on the first floor of the home and porch.
Firefighters who went inside found the teen, trapped in a stairwell by flames — they were able to grab him just in time and put out a portion of the main body of the fire and get out. After the teen was rescued the fire spread to all three floors.
The teen was checked out by Norwood Fire Paramedics and with the consent of his parents, refused to go to the hospital. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
