Description

Enjoy a great meal & the ambiance of The Aquarium, while hearing from Dr. Buddo about the challenges faced & impact of coral restoration. If you visit the Caribbean islands as a tourist or as a diver or if you live in the Caribbean - this impacts you! If you enjoy the beauty of the islands and the people many of whose lives depend on the sea and marine life - this impacts you! Shaw OpCo Corporation (TIN 85-0815915) is collaborating with Jamaican NGO, White River Marine Association (WRMA)/ dba White River Fish Sanctuary to aid in their coral restoration program. Concurrently we support an age-appropriate educational program in Marine science which will provide 4 scholarships per program awarding graduating seniors in STEM and elementary students. Our efforts will serve to pay it forward , educate and change the relationship of the future generations with the environment and ocean. Shaw OpCo Corporation's goals are to positively impact the community to achieve sustainability through empowerment, skill sets enhancement, education and awareness . Dr Dayne Buddo PhD , Marine scientist & PADI Master Instructor, Director of External Engagement at the Georgia Aquarium will share with us his experiences with the development of fish & coral sanctuaries. He will share the challenges encountered in coral restoration and the impact on the community. Dr Buddo will help us understand the consequences of the lack of marine science education and how it impacts the relationship of the community with the ocean. Coral restoration is a slow process but takes dedication and support, financial support and volunteer diving hours. We are asking for your help! Thank you!
