STAMFORD, CT — A fire erupted from a kitchen stove in a Springdale apartment on Sunday night, according to the Stamford Fire Department. The blaze was quickly extinguished, but the residents have been displaced due to fire, smoke and water damage.
At 11:35 p.m. Sunday, the Stamford 911 center received a call reporting a stove fire at an apartment in the 90 block of Highview Avenue, the SFD said in a news release.
Arriving units stretched a hose line to "contain the rapidly spreading kitchen fire." The fire was eventually placed under control at 12:09 a.m., the SFD said.
According to the SFD, no firefighter or civilian injuries were reported. The American Red Cross provided the displaced residents with emergency assistance.
Stamford Emergency Medical Services and the Stamford Police Department also responded to the scene. Overall, four Engine Companies, a Truck Company, Rescue Company, the deputy chief, and volunteer firefighters from Springdale Fire Department responded to the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Stamford Fire Marshal's Office.
