'Residents For Summit' To Host Town Hall On Broad St. West Development

SUMMIT, NJ — Residents For Summit, a group of locals who oppose the current design of the Broad Street West redevelopment project, are hosting their own town hall to discuss the new complex coming to Summit. More than 830 residents have signed Residents For Summit's petition, calling for the Common Council to reconsider and revise the design for the Broad Street West Subdistrict 3 development — a complex which is set to include 140 units of housing, as well as 10,000 square feet of retail space. Residents For Summit have hired their own professional planner, Carlos Rodrigues, who will present details concerning the project at the citizens' town hall on Wednesday at St. Teresa Memorial Hall. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and all from the community are invited to attend. The group has voiced concerns with the development's proposed size and scale, claiming it is too large and will set a dangerous precedent for future buildings in the city. They have also taken issue with a lack of parking available for the building's residents and are concerned the development will cause an influx of traffic.
