Description
NORTON, MA — One man is dead after an apparent meth lab explosion in Norton early Saturday morning.
Police and fire fighters were called to an apartment at 3 Faith Way at 12:53 a.m. and found what appeared to be an explosion from a meth lab operation. Residents from the other apartments in the building were evacuated because of the dangerous chemicals released by the explosion. While there was no fire, police determined a suspect had fled the scene and put out an alert to police departments in neighboring towns.
A short time later, police responded to a 911 call from a residence on Pike Avenue in Attleboro for a man with unspecified medical issues. Police determined it was the resident of the Norton apartment. The man was taken by ambulance to Sturdy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
As of 7:30 a.m. Saturday, crews remained on scene at Faith Way cleaning up chemicals and residue.
