NORTON, MA — Norton Board of Health Agent Christian Zahner sent a message to residents on Tuesday notifying them that yard sales and garage sales will not be allowed this season due to the new coronavirus health emergency. "As the warmer spring weather arrives, I know that it's the popular time of year for things such as yard sales," Zahner said. "The Norton Board of Health asks that all yard sales be postponed until further notice. The dangers of the gathering of people, frequently touched surfaces, and the possibility of communal spread is just too high and therefore not worth the risk." Zahner said that while the stay-at-home order in the state is expected to soon be lifted, that safety orders, such as face masks and social distancing, are still important to keeping positive tests for the virus down. Zahner said that a third person has died in the town due to the coronavirus. There are 135 positive cases reported in town as of Tuesday, including 72 that are considered fully recovered.
