JOLIET, IL — Thomas Botts, a 26-year-old Joliet resident from Mallard Drive, is now in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say he beat up a woman he knows over the course of two days at the Super 8 Motel on Mall Loop Drive. When Joliet police arrived at the motel on Mall Loop Drive around 1:40 a.m. to investigate the domestic disturbance, Botts pushed past one of the Joliet officers, and he ran down a hallway hoping to get away, police reports indicate. Officers caught up to Botts and placed him into custody after a brief struggle, according to police spokesman Dwayne English. On Monday, Botts went before a judge and his bail was set at $50,000. He is charged with domestic battery,resisting/obstructing a peace officer, aggravated assault, criminal trespass to real property and obstructing justice. "Motel staff observed Botts yelling at the victim after staff received a complaint of a disturbance," English noted. "Officers contacted the victim in the guest room and observed that she had numerous visible injuries all over her body." After being brought to the Joliet Police Department, Botts refused to cooperate with the booking process. He was then taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, police reports show.
