STILLWATER, MN — Nine teachers and staff members within the Stillwater Area Public Schools system were recently surprised with a Partnership Award and a grant. The Partnership Plan, a nonprofit educational fund, honors educators within the district each year, giving $1,000 grants to "teachers with great ideas to make learning deeper and more meaningful" for Stillwater students, according to a news release. Winners can donate the grant to any school of their choice. Owner To Retire, Sell Oak Park Heights Restaurant: Report Partnership Award winners included two elementary teachers, three secondary teachers, three staff members and one retired teacher, according to the organization. 2022 Partnership Award Winners Diane Johnson — 2nd grade teacher at Afton-Lakeland ElementaryAngie Olson — 1st grade teacher at Lake Elmo ElementaryBrenda Aarness — special education teacher at Oak-Land Middle SchoolStaci Brown — science teacher at Stillwater Area High SchoolPaula Harrison — physical education teacher at Stillwater Area High SchoolBobbie Anderson — CIP paraprofessional at Lily Lake Elementary Jeff Fosse — technology support level II, districtwide Sheryl Johnson — nutrition services manager at Andersen ElementaryLiz Tomten — retired Stillwater Middle School teacher The nine Partnership Award winners were nominated by co-workers, students, parents and community members. They are due to be celebrated May 5 at "The Partnership Party" at Rustic Roots Winery, 20168 St. Croix Trail N. in Scandia. Highway 36 Closure In Stillwater To Start April 29: Officials The Partnership Plan said it has given out more than $6.4 million in grants to fund learning and other experiences for 27,000 students since its founding in 1989. The organization said it has awarded just under $47,000 in grants for Stillwater Area Public Schools classrooms during the 2021-22 school year. Those grants funded an archeology class, underwater robotics club, books, raincoats, birdhouses and more. Teachers and staff in the district can apply for grants of up to $6,000 from The Partnership Plan.
