Press release from the City of Eden Prairie: April 22, 2022 Students on Commissions The City is now accepting Students on Commissions applications for the 2022-2023 school year. The program is open to any high school junior or senior who lives in Eden Prairie. Students on Commissions is a great way for Eden Prairie youth to contribute to their community in an official capacity, while gaining valuable insight about municipal government. Student commission member terms begin in September and end in May, with an expected time commitment of one evening meeting per month. The application deadline is Friday, May 27. Learn more and apply at edenprairie.org/StudentApp. Arbor Day Walk and Green Fair Celebrate Arbor Day with a walk around Round Lake, and check out a variety of green-themed vendors and activities Saturday, April 30 from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be concessions, family activities, free seedlings, hands-on nature activities, a slack line for kids and information on sustainability, native flowers and plants, and renewable energy information. Call for "Arts in the Park" Artists Artists and makers are needed to display and sell their work at the Arts in the Park event Saturday, Aug. 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sell artwork, homemade beauty products, artisan foods, unique clothing and more in the beautiful surrounding of Purgatory Creek Park. Applications must be received by Friday, June 3. Learn more and apply at edenprairie.org/VendorApp. Step To It Challenge Sign up to compete for Eden Prairie in the Step To It Challenge May 1—28. The Step To It Challenge is a fun, free program that encourages people of all ages and abilities to become more active and build healthy habits by tracking their activity. Register at StepToIt.org and log your steps/activity beginning May 1. The most active communities, individuals, schools and worksites are recognized and awarded with prizes, including Minnesota Twins tickets. Staff News The City recently welcomed Megan Larson as senior project engineer. Prior to joining the City, Megan worked with Sambatek. She earned a bachelor's degree in construction engineering from North Dakota State University. Lori Haak also recently joined the City as water resources coordinator. She was previously a biology teacher at Simley High School in Inver Grove Heights, and earned a bachelor's degree in environmental science/biology from Concordia College-Moorhead and a master's degree in teaching from Hamline University.
