AURORA, IL — A fire broke out at a single-family residence on the west side of Aurora Sunday afternoon. One adult was displaced from the home, which was deemed uninhabitable, officials said.
The Aurora Fire Department responded to a two-story, wood-frame house at 4:27 p.m. in the 700 block of Gillette Avenue. When the caller alerted 911, they reported everyone was out of the house, officials said.
When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke showing from the eves. To extinguish the flames and help residents, a total of 24 firefighters were called to the scene.
While Engine Company crews advanced their hose line through the first-floor side door, Truck Company crews performed a search, according to authorities. Additional crews were assigned to search the second floor for fire extensions and put out any hot spots.
